Blairgowrie, Rattray & District Angling Association
Scottish Water Erosion Project 2024/25
Dear all, Perth and Kinross Council has recently approved planning permission for a Scottish Water project which seeks to rectify severe erosion and undermining of the Blairgowrie bank of the River Ericht and thereby the existing service road to the Waste Water Treatment Plant off Welton Road. The work will involve insertion of steel piling faced with rock bags, similar to those used recently to secure the Welton Dump further downstream. The entire project will last approximately 10 months with the main phase affecting the river being limited to the period from 1 June and 14 October 2025. This restriction takes account of representations made by BRDAA, Ericht West Grange Ltd and other partners, ensuring the river works avoid the main Spring salmon run, smolt drop and the 2025 spawning period. On Monday 4 November, 2024, work will commence to construct a temporary access road along the field on the south east boundary of the Water Treatment Plant and to install rock bags at the worst points of erosion to prevent further damage by floods / subsidence between now and June 2025. A meeting is being arranged between BRDAA, Ericht West Grange Ltd and Scottish Water to discuss future access / parking options for anglers. Members are kindly asked to avoid this area in the meantime.
